I need wine advice; I’m a newbie?

So, I’m just getting to know wine. So far, what I can remember that I like is this brand named Zombie Zin; I love it. If I like this kind of wine, what other types of wine would you recommend? Also, would the Zin go well with a turkey dinner? I had a bad experience with Thanksgiving and wine. Last year I bought, I believe, a Cabernet…awful! I’m sure it was the brand that was bad, and not the actual type of wine. Any specific brands would also be helpful. Thanks.

never heard about this brand but what would be good is any merlot(france, ), rioga(spain) , classico(italy)- stick with the old world wines from spain ,italy france , and you wont go too far wrong – try to go to wine store and get advise from the sales person spend i presume you are in the us so expecct to pay at least 13 dollars for a bottle for at least an “acceptable” quality

Zin does go pretty well with Turkey but it can sometimes be too “heavy” for white meat. Try a Pinot Noir from one of the coastal areas of California like Sonoma, Carneros, or Santa Barbara. Chalone is very good, as it Edna Valley, and Saintsbury. Those can be found in most decent wine shops or big stores like BevMo.
For Zins, the best areas are Dry Creek Valley, Alexander Valley, and Paso Robles. Don’t worry about names so much, search by area and try a few.
Good wines can be had for $10. Wines that cost more than $20 better be something special or you are being taken.

As a former “zinfindel only” drinker, I would suggest moving up to chardonnay. I don’t know if it will go well with turkey though. Woodbridge, and Barefoot are good chardonnay’s. Also, have you tried white grenache? It is almost exactly like zin. I recently tried a grenache (which is red) and I **** red wine. however, the grenache was really lite and I liked it. Good luck!

Well if you like that Zin than I would go to the wine shop that you bought it from and ask for there advice. They can recommend several types to you and help you with gaining wine knowledge. As far as a wine to go with turkey normally they recommend a white with turkey, but I’m not a fan of white wine, so I stick to reds. Try out a syrah, they are very nice, have a smooth finish and would go well with turkey. Have a great holiday.
